Howto work with large projects with many similar groups of tasks? Best practice

Hi,

this is the scenario:

TV-Production with 50 Episodes. Let's say every Episode contains:

  • Episode 1
    • Preproduction (5d)
    • Production (8d)
    • Postproduction (10d?)
    • Delivery (milestone) (0d)
  • Episode 2
    • Preproduction (5d)
    • Production (8d)
    • Postproduction (10d?)
    • Delivery (milestone) (0d)

a.s.o.a.s.f

At the time of the project start we do not know how much time the Postproduction will take on average. So we assume 10days.

Questions:

  1. Every Episode has the same set of subtasks. How can I distinguish the tasks in teamplanner? Do I have to rename every subtask to make the name unique? (In most of the other Tables and views I can use the column "summarytask name")
  2. What if I want to change the duration of every "Postproduction" subtask because I notice that it takes 15 days on average? How would I do this (filter the tasks and drag'n'fill new durations or would you work with pasted links (paste special) in this cells? The latter seems a bit buggy to me in MS Project 2016. If I copy an Episode which contains pasted links it seems to be unreliable, some work some don't)
  3. How would you (the pros) prepare such a project.
  4. Is it best practice to place the "Delivery" Milestones on the same hierarchical level as the Episodes?

I hope someone can push me in the right direction.

Many thanks in advance

Björn
