How to print a Gantt chart with no line numbers and no task name

MS Project 2016

I want to print just the Gantt chart, with nothing to the left of it. Even if I drag the Gantt chart to the far left, it still prints line number and first field--and even a blank first field takes up 25% of the width.

(The use case here is that we are using MS Project to print timelines of all projects in an organization running out two years. At Outline level 1 a single line is printed. The project name appears to the right of the line on the Gantt chart--and that's exactly what we want. However, the line numbers and first field appear and we don't want that.)

This is what I suggest you do.

    1. Create a new custom view table, View > Data group > Tables > More Tables > New.

2 When the Table Definition window pops up give your view table a name, such as "Name only" or whatever makes sense for you.

    3. In the Field Name, enter "Name" (without the quotes) and select the other items such as alignment, width, etc.

    4. Uncheck the option to "add new column"

    5. Hit "OK" and then "Close" (do not hit "apply")

    6. Go to View > Task Views group > other views > More views > New

    7. Hit "OK" for Single view

    8. When the View Definition window opens give the view a name such as "Gantt Name Only"

    9. In the Table selection box, scroll down to find you custom view table

    10. For the Group selection, select "No group" and for the Filter selection, select "all tasks"

    11. Hit "OK" and then "Apply"

You can then select the desired outline level and you will see something like this:

By creating a custom view and view table you won't "pollute" the built-in Gantt Chart view.
