End date not rolling back

Why would you expect Project to automatically change the task finish date? You make no mention of why the task is ahead of schedule. If it is ahead of schedule because additional resources were added and the task if effort driven, then the finish date and/or time would change. But just declaring task progress, whatever the value, does not change the task duration.
