Dynamics CRM and Project for the web
Hi all, I cannot find the solution of this: A customer using Dynamics CRM (D365 for Sales) wants to extend this solution to include project management. D365 Project Operations is too robust and expensive. A Project for the Web would be a perfect choice but there is no way to install it on the same Dataverse environment. At least I could not find it. A Project Core as well as a Project Accelerator solutions could be installed only to an environment without Dynamics applications in it. Is there a solution?
Thank you

Hello JanVanek ,
Unfortunately it's not supported https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/project-for-the-web/deploying-project#provisioning-a-new-environment - see the note "Enable Dynamics 365 Apps" toggle must be disabled.

Dear Paul_Mather,
I've seen this limitation, but I'm still looking for a solution to a customer request that doesn't seem unreasonable. By the way, we have multiple customers using D365 for Sales, many of whom are project oriented and would like to digitize project management in the future in a unified environment rather than a separate application. The Project For The web service itself seems to be a very good solution, but without the ability to use existing Dataverse tables (Accounts-Customers, Contacts, Orders/Project Contracts) the effect is half as good. If this limitation forces the use of another Dataverse environment for Project For the Web, is it possible to synchronize e.g. Accounts tables etc. between environments? Honestly, I also don't understand why the Project Accelerator solution is only designed to manage internal projects within an organization. Our customers rather demand customer project management.
Hey JanVanek ,
I agree, it's not unreasonable and I'm not sure why Microsoft do not support it (we are volunteers on here and do not work for Microsoft). There must be a technical reason / limitation. It might be worth opening a support ticket with Microsoft to ask why it's not possible and if it is something that will change in the future?
