Create New Task from MS Project Add-In

I am using the office-js API to create a taskpane add-in for Microsoft Project Professional 2019, and need to be able to create tasks from the add-in. I have found documentation on modifying tasks, however nothing on creating them. I can not use Project server to do this. I was wondering if this is possible?
