It sounds like you got some bad information from whomever you talked to at Microsoft. The problem you report was recently reported and is apparently do to an artifact of a recent update. Please see this post:

By the way, if Microsoft still wants to charge you for the ticket, I would protest.
John- According to new information received from Microsoft support staff, it is estimated that the solution to this BUG could be deployed on December 12, 2023
