Found the issue!
It was related to using a reserved name for a Custom Field, this article by Brian Smith (CSS) did the magic:Hope it helps to anyone in the same situation.

Navigate to the Project Center page in Project Web App. Click the Projects tab at the top of the Project Center page to expand the Project ribbon. Click the New pick list button and select the SharePoint Tasks List item. Does this feature work from the Project Center page? Let us know and we will try to help you.
