Can you achieve Business App Solution Designation with Power Platform work? Missing in CPOR.
- Oct 16, 2023
smartbridge_brooke That's in interesting thing you've noticed!
Honestly, I would've said "Yes, it's possible to earn the designation based on only Power Platform". But now I'm not 100% sure anymore, as indeed the documentation doesn't says PAL for Power Platform on Net Cust. Adds.Documentation does say EA and Web Direct also counts. And how to do a partner association for Power Platform for these license channels? That's done thru PAL! So I would assume it still counts. But of course in the last part it does not specifically state that it does...
Another reason why you might not see any Power Platform subscriptions in a CPOR claim, for Buss. Apps. CPOR claims you can only see active subscriptions to claim (unlike MWP CPOR claims, were you can see all workloads, regardless of active subscriptions).
So might be that the customer from your screenshot does not have any Power Platform licenses, but of course you know if they do or don't.
I'm also very interested if PAL now counts or not for the Customer Adds for Buss. Apps. Designation.
If Microsoft can't answer here, I'd suggest to log a ticket in Partner Center. Also to make it clear towards Microsoft that it is a requirement for partners to earn the Designation status!
PAL has been the way of partner association at least since October 2022 for Power Apps / Automate / Bi with the introduction of the MCI - Usage program last year.
You can check the incentive guides for more info on that.
Hi,
please check out https://partner.microsoft.com/en-us/explore/solution-areas and download playbook mentioned. https://assetsprod.microsoft.com/en-us/overview-solutions-partner-for-business-applications.pdf
Reason you wont find it under CPOR as you need DPOR of PAL depending on workload.
Good luck!

Martijn
A couple follow-ups on that -
First, wow, when did PAL work as credit for PP deployments and usage growth? I swear that wasn't available before!
However, for net customer adds, PAL still doesn't count - it seems it has to be CPOR or DPOR or CSP. So it's still something that needs to be achieved.

I found a doc that might help, see https://partner.microsoft.com/nl-nl/training/assets/collection/solutions-partner-designation-resources#/ and download the "partner association playbook' detailing what (DPOR/CPOR/PAL) counts towards what...

- smartbridge_brookeOct 16, 2023Iron ContributorThanks Martijn, this is definitely an onion I'm going to continue to peel! I could see BizApps being focused more on Dynamics growth and MS redirecting Power Platform efforts into Digital App & Innovation.
It definitely seems like credit for Power Automate services have been neglected in this whole process.
I'm a member of IAMCP and I will try to get in front of some of the Microsoft partner enablement team members to figure this out a bit more.
