Task Finish Date Bug
Hi CoralieSimonaire, I was confused by the inclusion of 'Finish Date' in place of where 'Due Date' used to be. Finish Date remains uneditable and greyed out, and I am still unsure of what this is supposed to relate to.

Hello,
Thank you for sharing the screenshot.
It does indeed show the new task details experience in Planner, introduced through the "Task Details Side Pane experience" feature that is currently rolling out in Microsoft Planner. (ID 566566)
This new interface presents scheduling information differently, which can understandably be confusing, especially with the simultaneous presence of the following fields :
- Start Date
- Finish Date
- Due Date
In your screenshot, the "Finish Date" field is visible but remains greyed out and unavailable for editing, while the "Due Date" field remains editable.
At this time, I have not found any documentation that specifically explains why the "Finish Date" field is displayed but disabled in this particular scenario.
It is worth noting, however, that Microsoft is currently unifying Planner, Microsoft To Do, Project, and Copilot into a single work management experience. But I miss information about the next step...
In this context, the appearance of new scheduling-related fields may be related to the ongoing evolution of the Planner experience.
Regarding the fields displayed :
- Start Date corresponds to the planned start date of the task.
- Due Date corresponds to the task's target due date.
- Finish Date appears to represent a planned completion date, but I have not found any Microsoft documentation that precisely describes its behavior in this interface.
I completely understand the confusion, especially since Planner users have historically worked primarily with Start Date and Due Date.
In the absence of official documentation describing this behavior, the fact that the "Finish Date" field is visible, includes a date picker, but remains disabled appears more like a UI anomaly, a rollout-related inconsistency, or a capability that has not yet been fully deployed rather than a clearly documented and intentional behavior.
