MS Planner: Ability to assign sub-tasks?
Hi vculver,
The ability to assign sub-tasks to specific team members is not currently available in Microsoft Planner.
Microsoft has not yet announced any plans to add sub-tasks to Planner. However, they have been listening to feedback from users and have added other features, such as rich text in task notes and the ability to share plans with a file container. It is possible that Microsoft may add sub-tasks to Planner in the future.
You can also use a Send PLanner Feedback option in Microsoft Planner so you can pass your idea directly to Microsoft Planner team.

Make it black or white:
"Without the possibility to assign subtasks, Planner is not usable in a team"
The original post was in October 2023, it is now May 2025, still no functionality.
Suggestion: Instead of spending billions on AI, spend a few bucks and allow assignment of subtasks in Planner!!
Pretty please...

LeonPavesic I would also find sub-tasks VERY useful, especially since it doesn't appear people who are assigned to a task get notified when a task is moved to a different bucket...unless I'm missing something. If such sub-tasks were possible, in conjunction with Checklists, say, with an @ mention, that would be good.

jhonea We would love to use that kind of functionality as well. Have you heard any other response from microsoft or found any good workarounds?
