Enterprise resource management and allocation in Plan 5

Hi,

In the https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/planner/microsoft-planner-plans-and-pricing?msockid=329b64d7cf736c41173170e0cee36de2 page which compare Planner/Project Plans 1, 3 & 5, it states that the Plan 5 includes Enterprise resource management and allocation capability. I'm struggling to locate information what are the specific extra features come with this capability... I have Plan 3 now and since there is no trial version for Plan 5, I'll be glad to get this information before deciding if it worth investing in a Plan 5 license.

Can you elaborate what are these features which are unique to Plan 5 in general and specifically to the enterprise resource mgmt part? If possible, also please provide some examples of screenshots.

Thanks.

Adding my voice to this. Looking to utilise ERM in my organisation but Project for Web is no more!

I can see Project level resource management through the Assignments and Charts tab. Playing around with the Portfolio functionality shows that it might be inserted here.

We have the capabilities to develop something across Dataverse and Power Platform, but I don't want to allocate resources to work on this just to find it released as out of the box functionality in a few months time.

Does anyone know anything on the roadmap?

I was on the phone with a Microsoft support person last week.  What he told me was that the resource allocation management is ONLY available in project online....NOT the new planner or premium planner.  It would be SUPER helpful if it read something like this "Enterprise resource management and allocation (Project Online Only)".  In fact, all features should read this way so we, as end users, know what we are getting and where it is available.  Just reading this looks like these features are all part of planner since that looks like the direction MS is going with all this.

I am very new to this myself but we have installed the "Project" add-on which is a Microsoft PowerAutomate model driven app and in that there are some resource management tools. It might be referring to that? See this video it shows some of the features: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbN6iLWzvyo

That link takes you to a 3rd party provider.  I want this which is supposed to be part of Planner and Project Plan 5.  I can see the Advanced Portfolio Managment but not the Resource Management:

Here is the source link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/planner/microsoft-planner-plans-and-pricing?msockid=032244dbc1e165070f6f50eec0f86408

My apologies I shared the wrong link. The Power Apps Project accelerator that you can install is this which is contributed to by Microsoft: Introducing the Project Accelerator | Microsoft Community Hub

this is the Git-hub link to install it: https://github.com/OfficeDev/Project-Accelerator

This is the only place that I was able to find the resource management functionality.

And here is an overview video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrqeRyKmnXY

and kind of how the resource management is supposed to work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brxOqHjMd-o

Is anyone able to figure anything out on this? We would also like to use this ability of Enterprise resource management and allocation as facing same challenge on resource utilization visibility.

I recently had my license upgraded plan 5 as well SPECIFICALLY to test how this works for my company.  For the life of me, I can find no information on what this is, how to use it, or even WHERE it is.  I assumed that I would be able to see how my resources are allocated across all of the new planner (project for the web) projects.  I can find nothing like this in any of my plans either within Teams or directly on planner.cloud.microsoft.  I don't see anything different on project.microsoft.com.  I also don't see the Resource Scheduling app pictured above within my office.com apps.

Hi Odeds36, my understanding of the situation is that both 'Planner' and 'Project' fall under the same license.

'Project' definitely allows for viewing and comparing how resources are used across projects, using 'Project Online'. I believe this is what Plan 5 is referring to.

I believe 'Planner' may have a 'lite' version you can use through Power Apps called https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/common-scheduler/schedule-anything-with-universal-resource-scheduling

(EDIT: Actually, reading it now, it seems you need either Dynamics 365 Field Service, Project Operations, or Customer Service... you can still access the app? ...)

I don't have much more information on how much functionality it provides as it requires enabling by Admins which has not happened in my company at this stage (or maybe i don't have the right access, who knows!). I also have a plan 3 license at the moment and can access some parts of the App through 365 Apps:

Hopefully that can at least start you down a path of information!

Were you able to figure anything out on this? We would also like to use this ability, but don't see a lot there.
