lukebeckman It is not possible to notify only the task assigner. The task comments gets posted in the respective group mailbox and hence all users who subscribed for the notifications will receive it in their inbox.
- skealy1425Jul 11, 2024Brass ContributorAfter 2.5 years, I hope there are plans to update this basic feature, is this the case? Notifying the owner and assignees when comments are published OR, at a minimum, being able to tag to notify is a very simple and necessary part of any PM software.
As Microsofts own documentation puts it:
"Whether it’s communicating updates, coordinating schedules, or asking for clarification, the ability to discuss tasks with your team is integral to a project’s success."

SanthoshB1 This is basic functionality. Why would Teams not allow alerting a task assignee to an update or comment? It only alerts when you change priority, so obviously it is possible. How do we get this fixed? Apparently a lot of people need this.

I would also like to know this - for everyone in our group to receive notifications when any comment is made will result in being swamped in emails! It needs to be able to be tailored to just those people assigned in the task. lukebeckman

badgerjockey a workaround is you have each assignee when they get the notification that a task has been assigned to them, immediately acknowledge this with a comment. they will then get each new comment on their assigned task and it wont go to the entire group. This goes with setting the "Recieve only replies to you" in the Outlook group settings for the task group.
