Custom Template Creation from Premium Plan
I have been excitedly waiting for the custom template feature to roll out. My PMO group heavily utilizes Premium Plans only because of the need to have Dependencies tracked. I'm unable to create a template from a premium plan- basic only- which does not have the features that my team needs to use in Planner. Is there an estimated rollout date for custom template creation from Premium Plans?

Your observation matches the current support boundary: custom templates can be published from group-backed basic plans, while premium plans are not supported. Microsoft’s documentation provides no rollout date for premium-template creation, so there is no reliable date to quote. Converting the plan to basic would defeat your requirement because advanced dependencies and scheduling features are premium-only. Use the premium plan itself as the controlled master. Open its menu and choose Duplicate plan for each new project; Planner supports copying premium plans and carries task structure, buckets, dates, descriptions, checklists, labels, and same-group attachments while resetting task status. Test one duplicate and verify dependencies, assignments, calendars, and attachments before making it your PMO process. Keep the master read-only by convention and restrict ownership where possible. Track the Microsoft 365 roadmap and Planner release notes for a supported change; avoid rebuilding the template in basic unless losing dependencies is acceptable.if
