Contengencies for Tasks in Planner
- Feb 22, 2024
Hi KateN,
unfortunately, Microsoft Planner does not directly support task dependencies or contingencies like Asana does.
However, you can create a sort of workaround by using the “Checklist” feature within a task to list dependent tasks. You can then track the progress of these dependent tasks within the main task.
You can also post your feature request on Microsoft Feedback Portal (Ideas · Community (microsoft.com)) or directly in Planner by clicking on Settings > Send Planner Feedback

Hi there,
as this case is already over one year old I was wondering whether something changed on this situation meanwhile. I'm also trying to create tasks that depend on each other. Meaning:
- First task needs to be completed by person A
- Second task is startet by person B after person A marked her task as completed.
- Third task is startet by person C after person B marked her task as completed.
Creating a checklist within a task doesn't help me as I can't assign the different to-dos on the checklist to different people... which I need to do.
Maybe someone knows whether there is a solution for tasks that depend on each other already.
Thanks for your support!
