Can I access my Sharepoint lists in Planner?
altosioadminuser Hi 🙂 thanks for reading my post.
Essentially what I'm looking to do in the end as to be able to filter/sort Planner by client... not just by bucket or progress, for example. I thought that if I could tag/label tasks in Planner with a client's name, that would be extremely helpful for us.
At present, I am using the tags/labels for things like fiscal year end and the type of engagement (I work at an accounting firm where we prepare financial statements and corporate tax returns). Unfortunately, one is limited to 25 tags/labels--we have approximately 200 clients, so setting up client names as tags/labels is not an option.
With that, I thought since I have already created a Sharepoint list of all our clients--a list that I use extensively in the PowerApps I've created--it made sense in my mind that I could pull that same Sharepoint list of clients into Planner. I thought that if I could somehow bring that into Planner, that would really expand its usefulness to us.
Hopefully that makes more sense?
Thanks again for reading my post and I look forward to what your thoughts are.
Best,
Kristine

- Kristine2021Dec 01, 2022Brass ContributorHi JoshWowk, thanks for this. I'll keep this in mind for future applications, however, in this instance, it is definitely the visual aspect of Planner that is working for this situation. At present, I have large spreadsheets tracking a lot of the workflow concerns facing us, and some find that too much... Planner allows for a smaller snippet of that info that they can deal with.
I myself am fine with Lists, however, others in the office will not be--it looks too similar to Excel and then the question will be "why don't we just keep doing what we are doin in Excel." The ability to drag tasks across buckets is working out so well, that we are more likely to subscribe a formal Kanban board environment such as Asana or Wrike, as our needs increase, rather than converting to a List.
So I guess my take away is that I will not be able to ever tag a task in Planner with a client's name.
Anyway, thanks again for trying to help, JoshWowk.
Best,
Kristine
