Workaround: How to 'Delete A Category' in the People tab in New Outlook
In New Outlook, there is no direct option to delete a category from the People tab. The workaround is to remove that category from all contacts where it is applied. Once no contact is using that category, it will automatically disappear from the list. This is currently the only practical method in the New Outlook interface.
With 200+ contacts, I would hardly call this method "practical".
Even WORSE, Microsoft developer in nappies has deemed it acceptable to automatically assign categories to all my MOBILE contact syncs. I now have in excess of four hundred edits to remove the category which was done automatically without my knowledge. C'mon guys, this is a no brainer. I have less than 150 contacts on the desktop app!!! New Outlook indeed.
What you mean by the New Outlook interface? I am using Microsoft 365 Business Bacic. I do not have contacts assinged to these categories and they are still on my list.
