Can anyone tell me if the new Microsoft’s modern authentication methods requirement will effect the email accessed with Microsoft Hotmail outlook.live.com using an internet browser like Firefox. Microsoft says If you do not act, your third-party email apps will no longer be able to access your Hotmail email address on September 16th, 2024. But is Hotmail accessed through outlook.live.com with an internet browser a third-party email app? This too is very confusing, and seems to have a lot of people scrambling right now.

Hi there, if you are only accessing your outlook.com/hotmail.com via the web browser you will be fine. You do not need to worry about changes. The changes come into play for the subset of users which are using a third party email client, or older versions of Outlook which were using basic auth and syncing via imap/pop.
