Unable to receive incoming emails with new HP Laptop

Good afternoon,

Today I received a brand new HP laptop and have started up and following the necessary prompts to set up the system.  I am unable to receive incoming emails for a known email address, which is currently being used on an older laptop computer.  I am able to send out emails from the new laptop, so I know that, that part of the process has worked.  Can you assist me in solving this problem.
