Not yet, but work is still scheduled in this area.

unfortunately, it looks like it's only going to be a drag and drop, not alpha-sort. Those of us with literally hundreds of sub folders who need to trace something back are finding this a real handicap. Going back to Classic and sorting them doesn't carry over to the new Outlook either. Overall this seems like a horrible decision on Microsoft's part.

If you select the "View" next to "home" on the top, you can select "Folder Pane". From the drop down menu, "sort folders", then "order folders A-Z". works!!!!

My folders are ordered manually based on my work demand, and new Outlook screw things up by sorting folders in a whatsoever order that you define. New Outlook is too focused on flashy features and somehow just neglect all the tiny details that earned the practicality in old Outlook. In all senses, I'd say old Outlook is more powerful than the new one. - Fish0010Sep 05, 2024Copper Contributor
I see the roadmap item but it doesn't say anything about sorting, it just says you can manually sort. I just installed new Outlook. Sorting still does not work at all, either manually or automatically; the rollout date says Sep 2024 but I am not optimistic about automatic sorting.

Fish0010 I see the rollout date has been updated to October 2024. I hope they don't delay it further as I prefer ordering the folder to my preference

Fish0010 Thanks for letting me know. I am m pretty sure I could manually sort (useless when you have a lot of folders, and move child folders between parent folder a fair bit), but I am avoiding using it. A few other features that I use frequently are not in the New Outlook as well, which is a shame as there are some good features of it. Unfortunately, the missing features out way the positive.

RobertSparnaaij thanks for getting back to me. Do you know if this is an item being included in thsoe works?
I quite like the new outlook, but it has some seemingly 'basic' functionality missing such as this, cannot multi select calendar items to bulk update etc that sees me not able to commit to it.
