Sending PDF with share button (adobe), not recognizing the default email client. 2016 outlook

We have a client who purchased Office 2016 before we started servicing them. It appears something has happened lately that one by one people in the office are no longer able to view pdf in their Reader program, hit the share button and they get error that there is no default mail application but clearly outlook 2016 is selected.
