Search not working in Outlook 2019 since updating to Monterey 12.1 on the Mac
- socalidudeJan 06, 2022Copper Contributor
1. Run Outlook
2. In the main menu, click on "Help" and then "Check For Updates"
3. Click on the "Advanced..." button
4. Change "Update Channel" to "Beta Channel"
5. Hit the "OK" button to confirm the disclaimers of running Beta versions
6. Then it will install an updated "Microsoft Update" utility to download all the beta versions of Office. Then run the Microsoft update and you are good to go.
Remember you are running beta versions which means they are not fully approved by Microsoft to run in a production environment. For me, I didn't care since the full versions were not working anyway - so no harm - no foul.
Good luck!- Ben_Lautoe1160Jan 09, 2022Copper ContributorThanks for your help, i am back on track again with this beta version.
Shall we leave the update channel on: Beta channel? Or put it back to " update chanel" ?
Or is there no harm done when approved update will com from Microsoft? - tamourahmadJan 06, 2022Copper ContributorFor some reason, updating to Beta didn't work for me 😞

Honestly - yesterday some search Results also disappeared on my MacBook Pro (2016) So I had to switch to New Outlook > Mail can be used for Exchange [but I read them only on my Phone for now]

socalidude This beta update works!
Search is restored. IMO the search index created by Spotlight was never affected, just inaccessible (because you could search for a given word in Monterey 12.1 in Finder already, just not find 'from: xyz' through that channel.)
Outlook search works normally for me now in Outlook 16.58 (Build 22010406).
- ajmartonJan 06, 2022Brass ContributorGo to HELP on the Menu Bar. Then click on Check For Updates. Click on the ADVANCED button. Change the UPDATE CHANNEL from Current Channel to Beta Channel. Click Yes on the pop-up disclaimer. Hit the red button to go back to the Update window. It should now show 5 or 6 updates available. Now click on Update. And Outlook will download and have you exit Outlook and install the updates. The whole process was rather quick on my iMac Pro and MBP M1. Then try a search term. There may be a slight delay but it works! Fingers are crossed that it's stable. Seems fine so far.

ajmarton hello, when I go to Help n Menu Bar I can't find option Check for Updates, how can I solve this problem?
- ajmartonJan 09, 2022Brass ContributorTry and search for it in another Outlook pull down menu - maybe under preferences. It's in most versions. Not sure why it wouldn't be in yours.

ajmarton Thank you so much! Doing it, hopefully should work. Lost so much productive time in the last 10 days...
- ajmartonJan 06, 2022Brass ContributorMy pleasure! And also a big thank you to Onokeigo for posting about it. https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/1255489
