Search Facility in Old Outlook for Mac

Hello all - (1) I can't believe there isn't someone out there who knows how to turn the search facility back on in Old Outlook? I've tried the various suggestions, none of which work for me and it's very irritating not to be able to search through my emails! I'm using Outlook 16.78.3.

(2) I would be prepared to switch to New Outlook, but there doesn't seem to be any way of transferring my various email folders - if you switch, all emails come in one (very) long list. Again, there surely must be some way of sorting this?

I should add that I'm not particularly techie, so any suggestions will need to be very clear and simple!
