Rule to move specific emails from Inbox subfolders to Inbox main?
Hi - Looking to reorganize Outlook and want to create a rule to move emails dated Jan 1, 2017 to today from various subfolders in the Inbox to the main Inbox folder. Most searches I've done show how to set a rule to move mail from the Inbox to a subfolder but not the other way around. Any suggestions on how to do this? Thanks!
You dont really need a rule for this. Simply do a search for all messages received prior do the specified date, including the (sub)folders in question in the scope. Then, simply drag and drop them to the Inbox. If you want to do this in batches, you can of course do the search in each folder or simply add the Folder field in the search results, which will allow you to sort/group the results by subfolder.
While not the best option, you can use the same rule you'd use for the inbox - but you need to use Run Now on every folder. Not bad if you only have a few folders but is unmanagable if you have a lot.

Great, thank you! I was definitely over-thinking this.
