I received an automatic update on my computer a couple of days ago. Since then my search in outlook is working fine. I am not able to say whether this is a permanent or temporary fix. I will give further feedback at the end of the week. I have windows 10, 21H1, OS build 19043.1466
So, this might be a temporary or permanent fix for windows 10 but not necessarily for windows 11. If anyone wish to know which update I received, please guide me where to look for the relevant KB number in my computer and I will look into it, as I do not know how to do it myself.

Hello Franco
Go into your search under your start icon on task bar type is "Windows update settings" then go to "update history" you will find the KB number there.
Does anybody know if i could roll back to Windows 10?

- Franco1961Feb 15, 2022Copper ContributorHi JohanCo, this is what I found:
2022-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 21H1 for x64-based Systems (KB5010342)
Successfully installed on 10/02/2022
I can also confirm that I have checked again today and can report that the outlook search is running smoothly. The only thing that has changed is that now on my Google chrome browser I have a small down pointing arrow on the dashboard, which after investigation, I understand is a web pages search tab. It is of no consequence and I do not even know if this was added during the aforementioned Update, in fact it is unlikely, as I do not see what that update has to do with chrome, however, the fact is that I now have this small down pointing arrow in my chrome dashboard. It does not bother me and it might be even possible to get rid of it.
If anyone else installs the above update, please do let me know if you also get this small down pointing arrow in your chrome dashboard. It might well be that I inadvertently enabled this facility and so it might not have, as I suspect, nothing to do with the aforementioned windows update.
Most importantly though, my Outlook search now works just as well as it did before, let us hope it lasts.- JohanCoFeb 15, 2022Brass ContributorIt works for Windows 10 but not 11 and i am on 11
- Franco1961Feb 15, 2022Copper ContributorSorry to hear that JohanCo. I for one will not be rushing to upgrade to windows 11.

I have too many angry customers wanting to change mail client. This is ridiculous
- AC20221045Feb 17, 2022Copper ContributorI'd like to change software companies altogether. Microsoft is incapable of maintaining a stable OS or office applications. These Outlook search and search indexing problems are the standard, not the exception - their 'patches' break as many things as they fix. And note that while we all suffer the consequences, there is ZERO communications from the company that they are even working this problem, and no forecast for a fix. They're a terrible company.

Sadly i agree with you Microsoft is quickly becoming the worst company of the year, but this will give David a chance to slay Goliath, as i have seen this happen so many times Goliath gets arrogant and full of him self then a David comes in unnoticed an overpower him and as little as 3 years
