Outlook Search not showing Recent Emails (December-2021)

Uninstall the update and restart the system, it should work fine. Rebuild the Indexing only if its not working even after uninstalling the update KB5008212.

Some websites suggest to do the following, without the need to Uninstall this update: 

Registry Key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ software \ microsoft \ office \ 16.0 \ outlook \ search 
Add Entry DWORD.
Name DWORD: DisableServerAssistedSearch
Value DWORD: 1

Anyone tried this?

    deLorenzzo  - Yes - tried this - it solves NOTHING on my system. Outlook search can't find any recent emails, and search indexing still high resources.

      Hi deLorenzzo, very sorry to hear that. All that I can say is that this has worked for me. I can only presume that you have a different set up than mine. I have checked today and again everything is working fine, search find all my emails going back to those received/sent today. However, I for one will not be accepting anymore updates from Microsoft until I am satisfied that the issue is resolved across the board, as I do not want to risk taking a new update that screws up my outlook search again.

    deLorenzzoWe've tried the registry update - it fixes NOTHING.  Outlook search remains broken, and search indexing still takes "high power" on a brand-new, high-end Windows 11 desktop PC.

     

    Microsoft caused these problems in December.  IMHO it's unconscionable that Microsoft has now issued two Patch Tuesday OS updates, and this remains a problem, with no comment from the company.


    We are starting the search for an alternative email client.  *Unbelievably* frustrating.

    I have my identical problem with Outlook 2016 fixed with this solution.deLorenzzo

      applying the latest patch fixed our mail search issue, but broke the address search

    I confirm that after adding the value in registry and reboot the computer, after 5-10 minutes the search went back to normal. we use outlook365 with exchange.

      Hi 

        Now ok to search in outlook after Rebuild the Indexing, it  works fine .

      After updated i am getting KB5008215 i/o KB5008212

      Thanks & I am happy whatever solution already done
