Outlook Search not showing Recent Emails (December-2021)
Hi All,
The outlook search option stopped working properly after WIndows10 update.
The issue has happened after installing a security update from Windows (December 14, 2021—KB5008212).
I had tried re-building the Indexing but it was same. Once the issue started I had searched for the solutions and finally found that recent Windows update has created the issue. I had uninstalled that particular update and the search issue was fixed.
So let us know when the fix will be available for this bug?
- johanhburgerCopper ContributorI have the same problem - I think. I cannot search my emails (on MAc) to get to emails from specific people, nor can I search my contacts.

ChrisEsystems we are using windows 10, this method can work?
- AC20221045Copper ContributorApplied KB5011563 the day it became available. Windows 11 search indexer's "Power Usage" in Task Manager remains "Very High" or "High" 4 days later (today, April 1 - no joke). Outlook 365 search seems to find recent emails when searching only the 'current mailbox'; widening search to "all mailboxes" causes an error and returns only one email from 2018. It's possible this Outlook problem is local to a .pst file problem (scanpst finds some errors but is unable to fix any of them). Bottom Line: search within Outlook seems at least partially fixed, but system indexing is still problematic. Truth remains murky.

Hello all,
I had also issues with indexing and searching in Outlook.
Rebuilding of index didn't helped, neither troubleshooting of indexing.
But after I repaired Office suite (you can do it via "Control Panel" and "Programs & Features" or "Settings" and "Apps & Features") indexing has repaired automatically
(Indexing service started to index outlook items and search is working fine now 🙂 ).
Have a nice day ! 🙂

Why Microsoft is not working on this clear issue? This is unacceptable.
We're going to migrate our users on eM Client.
- Jj7777Copper ContributorStill having issue with my new pc with win 11. (With old pc I just uninstalling windows updates). Only work around now is restating my pc every morning so yesterday’s email get indexed. And new emails after restart won’t get indexed until I restart again. Shutting down and open again won’t do anything. It such a shame Microsoft cannot resolve those issue for so long. Don’t get me started on the issues with network printing. This is so much troubles for us small business with no IT experts.
- TimEll1250Copper ContributorYou don’t have to restart or reindex. Until Microsoft issue a patch for this the quickest temp fix is to close outlook, open windows services (Windows + R and enter 'services.msc'). Find Windows Search and select restart. This takes a few seconds. You can then open outlook which will work as normal. This temp fix will work until you reboot. This temp fix takes seconds and there is no need to rebuild the index. I use Win11 but this should work on Win10
- Arjen78Copper ContributorNot able to work with outlook at them moment because of this. Hurting my business like hell.
- AC20221045Copper ContributorOur small business is suffering as well. We are avoiding Outlook altogether and making do with the web UI for all email (in our case, ATT/Yahoo mail)

Windows 11/O-365 - fully patched. MSFT should be ashamed after over three months of this bullsh**
