Hi All, The outlook search option stopped working properly after WIndows10 update.The issue has happened after installing a security update from Windows (December 14, 2021—KB5008212). I had tried re-building the Indexing but it was same. Once the issue started I had searched for the solutions and finally found that recent Windows update has created the issue. I had uninstalled that particular update and the search issue was fixed. So let us know when the fix will be available for this bug?

Hi,I also tried same and seems to be only option is to runing index. Seems to be this update has stoped automatically indexing new emails.But you do not need to rebuilt it always. There is a simple trick until solution come.Open Indexing Option. Then Go to Windows/start menu --> type "Services" --> Double Click on Services App-->go to "Windows Search"--> Right Click --> and select restart.This will not rebuild all index, but start indexing from paused. in seconds after you do this, recents emails will be appear in seach results...

Hi all, I got an update from Windows that the fix for Windows 11 WDS search is anticipated for the March 15th, 2022, Windows Public Updates. I have added this status to the Outlook Known Issue article, Outlook Search not showing recent emails after Windows update KB5008212 (microsoft.com). I also updated the same article to indicate Windows 10 was fixed in the February 8th, 2022, Windows Public Updates (RS5 and Vibranium). Windows 10 will also get the same fixes as Windows 11 in the March 15, 2022, Windows Public Updates.

Hi, I'm just writing this comment to try and help.
In my case I have solved the problem simply by doing a "Rebuild Index" in Outlook.

In any case, if the problem is not solved, it would be necessary to simply uninstall the Windows Update for which this error occurs. This update is KB5008212.

Once the previous steps have been carried out, the system should be restarted.

Once this is done, everything should work correctly !

  I don't know why? But 8 couldn't uninstall this update!
  Also, when i did it, i realised that know it got worse the search index unfortunately and it shows me (my work pc, win32 bit, outlook 2007) 2016 emails
  I am just waiting
  P.S Although some pcs (newer) react a little bit different (better) to the search

    To uninstall Windows 10 update using Command Prompt, use these steps:

    2. How do you realize/measure search index got worse after removing the infamous KB5008212 update ?
    It will index the outlook items vs no indexing!

  You rebuild index and that's OK for the moment.
  Will index until the day you rebuild, after it will not index new emails.
  Turnaround:
  1. uninstall KB5008212
  2. OR Stop Windows Search service (net stop wsearch), close outlook and reopen, will display the remaining number of indexing emails.
  3. STOP automatically updates. It's embarrassing the number of issues of the last year of windows 10 update and office Apps (the bug of big contacts and no scroll in to/cc fields)

I had the same issue, and this worked.
Before then when I tried to search for something, the most recent results would not appear.
When I checked indexing status, it said everything had been indexed.
I even tried to delete and rebuild index, that did not work.
After I uninstalled that update and restarted my computer. It was actually indexing everything in my email and once it was completed, I was able to search for emails that I had recently received.

  As of 3/14/2022, problem is absolutely still NOT fixed. Windows 11, Office 365 MSO. System search is indexing fewer than 2 objects per second (~26 per minute). Search within the Outlook app is nonexistent or horribly incomplete - cannot find anything recent, and many times can't find anything period. Have tried most workarounds (besides a complete OS rebuild - Microsoft would need to pay ME for that). NOTHING WORKS - now three months after the company introduced the problem with a "patch". This is hugely affecting our small business. Abjectly incompetent behavior on the part of MSFT - ostensibly a "Fortune 500 company". SMDH.

    It's a pain but after each reboot I manually stop and restart the "windows search" service (make sure Outlook is closed) and it works for me.
    
    At least it's indexing the newest emails as they arrive.

  Our small business is suffering as well. We are avoiding Outlook altogether and making do with the web UI for all email (in our case, ATT/Yahoo mail)

    I agree as i get 250 mails a day and can not search them this is getting out of hand does anybody know of a reputable substitute i am even will to pay as i cannot do this anymore my work suffers immensely under this. i use Gmail

Seems there is some problem related to Windows Search Service and Outlook.
I found out that if you reboot Windows Search Service, and then close/open Outlook again, problem is solved, at least untill you reboot (then this problem starts again).
Any ideas on how to bypass this? My company also needs help with this matter.
Any ideas are welcome.

  I found the most bizarre workaround
  That has worked on multiple PCs!
  (that spontaneously started having this issue both office 2016 & 2019)
  
  Go into the indexing options and select modify and then UNCHECK the OUTLOOK option
  
  Close Outlook
  Open Outlook
  
  Do a search
  
  You will immediately get the error that: ...the search could not be completed...
  
  And then the search will proceed to complete fully and correctly
  
  This included a just sent email - so the index seems to update as well

  Uninstall the update and restart the system, it should work fine. Rebuild the Indexing only if its not working even after uninstalling the update KB5008212.

    Some websites suggest to do the following, without the need to Uninstall this update:
    
    Registry Key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ software \ microsoft \ office \ 16.0 \ outlook \ search
    Add Entry DWORD.
    Name DWORD: DisableServerAssistedSearch
    Value DWORD: 1
    
    Anyone tried this?

  You have rightly said, the problem is with windows search service which belongs to OS. If we start the outlook in safe mode outlook/safe , you will able to search the all emails but that will take some time. Microsoft should patch the issues as this is world wide issue I believe.

    Hello guys, I also have same problem, but whats more I cannot uninstall KB5008212, when i select this update there is no "uninstall" button, what to do then? Console command: wusa /uninstall /kb:5008212
    also do not work, there is error which says that this update is neccessary for Windows and cannot be uninstalled
    please help

VineeshKV88 your a godsend! Thank you, this worked for me, uninstalling the update, restarting Outlook, and then also a reindexing.

For those still battling, I also had to troubleshoot my indexing in windows (by File-Options-Search-Indexing Options - at the bottom of the box, "Modify" or "Advanced" settings, check the links underneath and it, "Troubleshoot indexing options" mine came back with "Windows Search Option not working" of which I checked the boxes for the errors I was receiving and it troubleshooted successfully, closed outlook, reopened and it started to index around 400 new emails from the previous week

I wish Microsoft would get their @#$% together, Apple never has half as many issues with their software.
