outlook rule moving mail to folder but when there is replay to thread it's coming to inbox instead
If you have set up an Outlook rule to move emails to a specific folder, but replies to those threads are still appearing in your inbox, it's likely because the rule you created doesn't handle threaded conversations properly. By default, Outlook treats replies as separate messages rather than part of the original thread, which can cause them to bypass the rule and land in your inbox.
To resolve this issue, you can modify the rule or create a new one that includes the necessary conditions to capture threaded replies. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to create a rule that moves both the original email and any replies to a designated folder:
- Open Outlook and go to the "File" tab.
- Click on "Manage Rules & Alerts" (the exact wording may vary depending on your Outlook version).
- In the "Rules and Alerts" window, click on "New Rule."
- Select "Apply rule on messages I send" or "Apply rule on messages I receive," depending on your specific needs. Then click on "Next."
- Set up any desired conditions for the rule. For example, you may want to specify a particular sender or subject. Click on "Next" when you're done.
- In the next screen, under "What do you want to do with the message?" check the box next to "Move a copy to the specified folder."
- Click on the "Specified" link in the "Step 2" box to choose the folder where you want to move the messages, or create a new folder.
- After selecting the folder, make sure the option "run this rule now on messages already in 'Inbox'" is checked, if you want the existing messages to be moved as well. Click on "Finish" to save the rule.
With this modified rule, any new emails matching your specified conditions will be moved to the designated folder, and any replies within the same thread will also be captured and placed in the same folder.
Keep in mind that the specific steps and options may vary slightly depending on the version of Outlook you are using.
yes it's probably will be hard to create a rule to match all changes in the thread, but I will try to add more keywords to the current one and hope it will help
