Outlook mail not forwarding after password change

Hello, I got a notification from microsoft about attempts to sign into my hotmail account so I changed my password.  Now it appears that my emails are no longer being forwarded to my Gmail account.  When I choose forward mail from settings and try to save the red circle with a line comes up and no changes are made.   When I go to gmail and try and update the password there I get an authentication error.
