Outlook for mac unable to open files

I am unable to open files that I receive through Outlook for Mac. When I click "Open" next to the file, nothing happens - I don't even receive an error message. I've tried clearing the cache, closing preview before opening, and more, but have had no success. Any guidance on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated!
