Outlook for Mac 365 crashes during startup

Having initiated this thread, I'll offer my update. In the end, I connected (as administrator of our family subscription) with a human being in tech support. Ultimately, the only thing that worked was deleting the Outlook app and then the Outlook folder in ~/Library/Container. Then reinstalled Outlook from my Microsoft Account page. It installed as new Outlook and now works fine. I lost access to some email that dates back about 10 years (still have the data but the program can't seem to read it). Otherwise, it's okay. I'm getting used to the new format.

I'm just now having this issue. It worked ok when I switched to the "new" outlook, but I couldn't create any new folders (options were greyed out). So when I went back to the "old" outlook is whenI had the issue. Will try your fix above. So frustrating we can't get a human being to chime in from Microsoft!
