Outlook Desktop - Working Hours and Locations not showing
- May 20, 2024
I am glad that you are happy about the WLH feature. I don't believe Classic Outlook users have all the wonderful features that WHL has to offer. After my investigation, I will clarify the following questions. Also, it could be that I don't have the updates in classic yet. Nevertheless, here is what I understand.
- I don't believe you can manage your work hours in Outlook Classic. You must change them in the New Outlook and web versions.
- The WHL icons will not appear on the Profile Cards for you or your team.
- In New Outlook & Web, I can change my location for a specific future date by clicking on the WLH icon in the drop-down menu from the calendar.
I am also looking into whether these functionalities are on the backlog. I will keep you up to date with my learnings.

My Outlook version is slightly different from yours. However, the work hours and location (WHL) icons are not displayed on my Outlook desktop. They are only visible in the New Outlook and web versions, the same as you.
- Microsoft® Outlook® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2404 Build 16.0.17531.20120) 64-bit
Based on the roadmap details, Microsoft started rolling out WHL enhancements for New Outlook and Web versions in March 2024. I suspect the functionality was removed from the classic app, but I have not seen any supporting documentation.
I recommend that you report a bug to Microsoft by selecting View | Feedback | Report a problem.
Please keep us up to date on your additional learnings. I will do the same.

Hi Teresa_Cyrus
Well some good news! This morning I returned from holiday and an Office update to find that Working Locations are now showing on my Outlook desktop client in the Scheduling Assistant and in the Calendar. There doesn't seem to be any reference to this as a feature update on the Release Notes though. Anyways, am I being weird for saying how happy I was to see this? I don't think I've been this happy to see a feature change for quite some time! Now, I REALLY don't want to be moving to the new Outlook desktop.
My new Outlook version information:
Thanks for all your help.

Hi angiekat72,
Great news! A Microsoft Outlook engineer has confirmed that Classic Outlook will soon support the full functionality of WHL. Currently, the WHL icon is only viewable on the calendar and can be managed in New Outlook or the web. However, the ability to manage WHL in Classic Outlook is on the horizon. No rollout dates have been provided yet.
Additionally, I'd like to mention that I have a video playlist available to jump-start your learning should you wish to explore New Outlook. It's true that several features from Classic Outlook are not present, but New Outlook offers a range of features that are not found in the Classic version.

Shared folders functionality is coming in September.
Outlook: Shared Mailboxes as Accounts
Shared Mailboxes can be added as Accounts in the new Outlook for Windows. The Shared Mailbox will appear at the Account Level in the Folder list. Access to the Shared Mailbox requires the user's credentials and associated permissions.
