I haven't received any replies to my post on this forum, except for one that is in German or Dutch, which I can't read. However, I did get a reply in another forum with the solution. So, I'll post it here in case anybody can benefit. This solution works, every time.
After a sleep period, it is usually necessary to close and restart the connection between Outlook and my email server. (Why this started on August 29, 2025 is still unexplained.) To do this, go to the Send/Receive tab and toggle "Work Offline". Switch to offline mode, wait 10 or 15 seconds, then switch back to online mode. This triggers a reset of the server connection, and an immediate email synchronization.
