It should be the same password yes, so if you downloaded Outlook desktop and added your Microsoft account login, it might not ask for a password as you are logged into the computer (possibly) and it already knows. There is not a different password, so I think you are correct.

Yes, that is exactly what I thought. But I was confused after reading this:
Is your Microsoft account password the same as your email? - 33rd Square
Not sure how to turn this into a link.
Any further thoughts on this? I just want to understand how to set up a password for outlook so I can access/reset as may be needed.

You can test it by opening a browser in private/incognito mode. Log into office.com/myaccount that is your portal for your whole Microsoft account. Then in the upper left area is the launcher and it will show "Outlook" and click on that and it should launch.
Or you can go incognit to outlook.com and log in and in the upper right is your picture and info, it will say "My Microsoft account" and click on that and it should launch your personal MS portal.

I still can only see the password for my Microsoft account. I can't see a separate login that requires a password for Outlook. I tried using incognito mode and it didn't seem to make any difference.
Also, this article " Is your Microsoft account password the same as your email? - 33rd Square" says that there are two separate passwords. If that is true, then I should be able to see the two passwords, even if they are the same. It seems I can only access the Microsoft account password and not my Outlook mail password.
Can anyone confirm whether there is only one password or two. If there are two, how do I get to the screen where I can see and edit the password for Outlook?
Thank you.
