Opening PDF attachments in Outlook to default PDF viewer
Let me try to get this thread back on track.
The 'New' Outlook has a great modern interface and there are several features that I like, however the one big showstopper that is preventing my employer from releasing this to the organization is the fact that you have to download all of your e-mail attachments. Right now, the user does not have the ability to open any attachments through their native desktop application; this includes PDF, Excel, Word or any other file type. The only option you have as a user is to preview the attachment within Outlook or save to your OneDrive. There are even some file types (i.e. xml) that are restricted and you can't even preview the file.
I navigated the to MS Roadmap site and I do not see this feature listed on the backlog. This should be considered a majority oversight by the product development team and should be addressed immediately.
