Office365 Outllook will not send email, goes to 'Not responding'

Out of the blue, my account just stopped sending emails. Everything else - receive, calendar, etc works fine and syncs with mobile devices. Mob devices can send emails ok.

When trying to send from my PC desktop, the progam shows 'Not responding'

I have tried for some time to do set up manually for Exchange, POP, and pre 2013 Exchange which is another option, but it will not send. Appears to send when configured to IMAP, but no calendar.

Have tried Malwarebytes turned off too.

If I were to guess, the smtp is wrong, but I can't get to an edit page for the configuration.  Which is where I am struggling with all the advice I read online. The edit of the account section just doesn't show the details I want to check/change. Any help is appreciated. TIA

I got a program that gave the info below. The SMTP is my email, not, smtp.office365.com

User SMTP Address = SMTP:*******@hotmail.com

                Server Version = 15.20.7025.20

                Office 365 = True

                Profile Type =Unicode

                Profile Mode =Cached

Cached mode download style =Full Items

                Download Shared Folders= True

Now sorted, it seems. Just get the latest Windows Update and sanity will return. Let's just hope the update hasn't broken something else...

Found this on another thread and it appears to work.
It has reverted my Office to 2016. I plan not to update until MS has a fix.
Saw this on another thread and appears to have worked for me!
Workaround to revert to prior working build:

    1. Open a Command Prompt window (from Windows search box type Command Prompt, right click on Command Prompt and click Run as administrator)

    2. Paste the commands below into the Command Prompt window and press Enter after each:

    cd %programfiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun

    officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.16924.20124
