New Outlook is useless!

The "New" Outlook is awful! So limited and anti productive!!! At first I couldn't find my auto mapped shared mailboxes, and only happened upon it in "groups" by accident.  Not intuitive at all!  It's a shared mailbox.... not a group.  Then, my quick steps didn't transfer to the "New" outlook!  And then I realized why - I used to be able to have quick steps for my additional shared mailboxes that allowed me to move things into separate folders within those shared mailboxes, and now I can only use the quick steps to move stuff into my own mailbox - this is counterproductive and leaves room for operator error! I work with a mailbox that has about 40 different reports in it and when a report has been worked it has to be moved to its respective archive folder - I used to have this set up with quick steps to ensure that I didn't place something in the wrong folder - Alot of the folders are similar in name so its easy to put things in the wrong folder if doing it manually, and no I cannot change the name of the folders... The reports are named by server admins, and are descriptive of the contents of the report.  This is the worst update ever! I hated the webmail platform and now the desktop version is going to be just as simplified and useless! Fix this Microsoft! we have had a very robust and customizable email client for years, so that we could improve productivity... shame on you for thinking you know what we do or don't use, and for making us have to work harder.  You should really do surveys to see what people do or don't use, and ask us what we would like to see added or removed before stripping things out of a program.  It's fine if you want to modify the "appearance" but do not take away the functionality.  The code was already there... no reason to eliminate it, hide it maybe... but not take it away! Now I have to create a macro that will do what I used to use the quick step wizard for.  Oh wait! I can't do that - cause I cannot find the developer tab? Ugh!!!

Oh... just discovered I cannot put a shared mailbox in my favorites! so now I have to scroll down thru all my mail, and shared boxes to find the shared inbox, instead of it being right at the top! This just keeps getting worse!

Microsoft and Satya are losing their minds. Their quest in trying to modern apperize everything is a terrible strategy; it's the same mistake that Steve Balmer made with Windows 8.1. Mobile devices (phones, tablets) and PCs are 2 separate things. Mobile devices are quick and light (although that doesn't mean complex tasks can't still be handled albeit less efficient/convenient) and PCs are large, detailed, function powerhouses. It'd be like taking Excel away for some basic version like OneNote Desktop vs OneNote app. MICROSOFT AND SATYA, people use Outlook desktop for all its functional and customizable glory. I need all the professional features (even in my personal life) that are not even remotely dreamable online or in the modern app. Please 100% scrap this effort while ahead and reallocate all resources working on this effort to a better cause, PLEASE!!!

In fact, here's an idea that I think Balmer should've pursued with 8.1 but I don't think the technology or culture was quite ready yet (and was somewhat attempted with Windows Phones years ago)... Mobile devices that provide full-fledged Windows Pro when docked while providing Mobile experience on the go. The problem with 8.1 was that the full-fledged experience was the same as the mobile experience; this is where people hated it for PCs. The difference is single devices that can SWITCH experience between the two. Samsung has the right idea with Samsung Dex here, however, Dex just isn't quite the full PC and cannot install classic applications/programs and therefore can't quite replace Windows. SATYA, you have the opportunity here that Balmer missed...

On that note, yes, the New Outlook is great as a standalone Modern App (we have to come up with new terms for Classic vs Modern) version that replaces mail and calendar and is easy to get started with for middle schoolers so that their first overloading exposure to Outlook isn't their first corporate job after college (the real root cause problem for Microsoft). But then by the time they hit their first corporate job or internship, it's easy for them to transition to full-fledged grown-up Outlook.

The New Outlook is absolutely terrible. I use it daily for work, my job. It removed many needed features and made existing ones much more difficult to use. They removed things like being able to view message headers and view message source, very important things (for reporting spam and phishing), etc. I absolutely will NOT use, and if the current, old Outlook somehow is forced to upgrade, I will use another email client.

100% agree.  Outlook is mostly used for professionals; the new version seems more like someone using it for personal emails.  But either way, a revamp is okay so as long as the original options, settings, etc. are used.  Too many issues to list again but we all know what they are.  MS needs to keep the classic version available.

Wow.  I have a list of some other "new" Outlook issues and this website told me I had to delete them.  Are you serious????

I agree 100%!!! I was forced to switch to the "new" Outlook.  So many things wrong, including: reminder snoozes limited to 2 hours (classic version you could snooze for a week or more.

I'm sure there are more but I agree....worst MS update in recent memory.

I agree and have the same issues and never gave permission to MS to change my views. I hate it. They even removed the revert button for classic view.
