Microsoft outlook calender query

Hi
Wondered if anyone could help with this simple question. When I go to outlook calender, other calender, add calender from address book , and when I type in the name the calender automatically appears to view next to my own calender, does this mean this person's calender is a shared calender and can you confirm that they will not be notified when I add their calender ?
