Microsoft Exchange server error "User is authenticated but not connected."
AntonioC7 Dear Antonio. I have spent the last 4 hours online with MSFT support.
The first guy who covered the call was clueless, trying to follow a script,.. a bad version of Chat Gpt ...
I then asked to be moved to his supervisor, who was clearly a lot more technical and knowledgeable, but could not offer me a reason as to why hotmail/outlook account emails do not function today apart from suggesting that it could also have something to do with eM Client backend servers. (although I did mention to him multiple times that all of my other accounts ie_gmails, other pro accounts, etc...) did work perfectly in eM client at the moment.
The only thing that this supervisor suggested to me that perhaps could make sense or offer a solution to our problems, was to move from an IMAP settings (which I currently have for my hotmail in eM Client) to an EXCHANGE SERVER settings (which I believe are different settings altogether).
Although I have had three diff conversations with the support team at eM Client today (and every time, it was the same answer, ie, it is MSFT servers f8ck-up and not their fault) I will take it back to them tomorrow suggesting what MSFT mentioned.

also as for me , my outlook app is working correctly on my android (ie i'm getting all my incoming HOTMAIL emails) however I m using the MSFT Outlook mobile app for that.
"I just want to set an expectation, O. We are from Windows and we mainly support Mail Application and if you are using an Outlook Application, we can refer you to Office Support. In case you are using another Mail application other than the Microsoft Applications mentioned, we would suggest contacting their respective support. "
The point is that I set EMClient IMAP as indicated by Microsoft, both in gmail in Android and EM CLient in Windows11. In both cases the IMAP does not work (can send emails without problems).
This means that the config indicated by Microsoft does not work:
For Microsoft 365 Outlook
Server: outlook.office365.com
Port: 993
Encryption: SSL/TLS

As of today the EMClisent access to Outlook is working again.
Nothing better than peer pressure to solve the problems 🙂- LOL.. don't know if it helped or not to hammer on both eM Client and Microsoft but the more people making it transparent , the more probability of getting the problem fixed! till next , take care!
- They broke my email client app (AltaMail) with this change.
One fix appears to be, disabling two factor authentication for logging in. Way to go. That’s ridiculous Microsoft! Instead, I’m going to try adding the account as a new Exchange account, choosing Exchange Office 365. However I’m not sure that will work.
Let’s get this resolved Microsoft please!- Amazing. I added a post here, moaning about the problem, then went back to AltaMail to find it started working again!! So the only thing I did was log into my Microsoft account at techcommunity.microsoft.com, no changes in my Mail account login authentication, still 2FA, and did not add the Exchange Office 365 connection. It’s just resolved itself. Weird but ok!
