Have Events from Non-Primary Calendar Show as Conflicts?

Hello! I have Outlook through my university. I use my primary calendar (blue) for university business and another calendar (purple) for other commitments. I've just discovered that when someone sends an invite to my primary calendar, events from my other calendar don't register as conflicts. For example, I showed up as free when my boss sent this training invite even thought I have a conflicting appointment.

Is there a way to configure my secondary purple calendar so it affects my availability on my primary blue calendar? I see that I can share it with individuals in permissions, but I'm looking to set it so my secondary calendar conflicts will register for anyone using scheduler to send an invite to my primary calendar.

Thanks!

  • Hi fvescia,

Each added Calendar is a separate calendar. In your case, your school calendar event will not reflect on your primary work calendar. This behavior is by design.

Here are a couple of workarounds.

Option 1: You can add your school events to your primary calendar and use color-coded Categories.

Option 2: Keep your school calendar separate.  Then, you can send invites to your primary calendar for any school events impacting your workday. This option will take discipline to manage.

This is great, thank you! Do you know if there's a way to categorize an event the initial event pop-up (screenshot below), or do I always have to click "More Options" to categorize an event? Thanks again!
