forwarding delays

I have an account at outlook.live.com, and I have instructed it to forward all e-mails from there to another account. That forwarding happens 7-8 hours later. ALWAYS. Why? How do I make the forwarding happen more promptly?

Forwarding is specified on the web. Does that make a difference?

Not a fix, just a way to maybe find out where the hang up is.

Open one of the forwarded emails and look at the Message Header.

You should see the path the email took and date/times on each server hop.

The Microsoft tool at https://mha.azurewebsites.net/ can help you see the hops more clearly.

Interestingly, these delays were happening for several weeks. Quite suddenly, it's decided to forward immediately. I didn't change anything. I think the Microsoft fixit trolls are busy.

      • Yes that happens to me frequently with clients calling in with weird issues, they magically go away when I remote in to help. I tell them "you threatened it to work by calling in for help" Lol. I edited my comment as it didn't make sense.
