Step 1: Determine the X500 address
Have an internal user reply to an email address that was sent by the user before their mailbox was moved. The NDR will contain an IMCEAEX string that can be converted to an X500 address.
For information about how to convert the recipient address in the IMCEAEX NDR to an X500 address, see Method 2 in the "Resolution" section of the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
2807779 IMCEAEX non-delivery report when you send email messages to an internal user in Office 365 dedicated
Step 2: Add the X500 address to the user's email addresses
In Exchange Server 2016 or Exchange Server 2013:
In the Exchange Admin Center, click recipients, and then click mailboxes.
Select the user mailbox, and then click Edit.
Click email address, and then click Add.
In the enter a custom address type box, type X500.
In the Email address box, type the X500 address.
For example: /O=<ExchangeOrg>/OU=FIRST ADMINISTRATIVE GROUP/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=<User1>
Wait for or force directory synchronization to occur.
