Emails going to straight to the delete folder and being marked as read.

I had a similar experience on my AOL mail account. My email was hacked when I received an email from a friend for a bogus invite from the Punchbowl app. It caused the same email to be sent to many of my contacts. While on my account one day I saw that it being taken over by an outside person or malware and it was doing updates to my system very fast. I immediately shut down. When I resumed using AOL mail I found that some mail was being directed to my Recently Deleted folder. It turns out the updates that had been done by the person/malware went into the Filters option of Settings for AOL mail and redirected new mail to recently deleted for several field values contained in the incoming mail, such as, .gmail, .yahoo, .aol. The problem was fixed by deleting the these filter updates. Hope this helps.
