i have been having this problem for months. mine is even worse because the emails go straight to my deleted/deleted folder (the recovery folder) as read. the only way to access this folder is from a computer browser. i have listed emails as safe and added to contact list and it still happens. three chats with microsoft support brought me here. i am so annoyed and frustrated!

jamivansant exactly the same is happening to me. The only solution is to save emails in my contact list. But because it's a business email. I don't always have client's email saved in my contact, specially when they've emailed me for the 1st time. I just had to make it a habit of checking my deleted folder which is really annoying. I have search everywhere for solutions, but haven't found one. If you have a solution, i'm all ears

It turns out i had inadvertently downloaded a third party app on my outlook, which created the same issues you are having. Try the following and remove what you don't recognise.
Users can remove third-party app access from Outlook or Office 365 through the Microsoft Account page:
Log in to the account at account.microsoft.com/account
Click the Privacy tab
Verify identity using an email code
Scroll to Other privacy settings
Select Apps and services > Apps and services you've given access to
Choose the app to revoke
Click Edit under the app's name
Select Remove these permissions- ericka390Sep 18, 2024Copper ContributorI'm not sure where to find these?
