Email issues in Outlook where emails get stuck in the Outbox can be frustrating. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

    1. Check Your Internet Connection

Ensure that you have a stable and active internet connection. Sometimes, a poor or intermittent connection can cause emails to get stuck in the Outbox.

    2. Check the Size of Attachments

Large attachments can cause emails to get stuck. If your email has large attachments, consider reducing their size or using a file-sharing service.

    3. Work Offline Mode

Switch Outlook to offline mode and then back online:

    • Go to the Send/Receive tab.
    • Click Work Offline.
    • Wait a few seconds, then click Work Offline again to go back online.

    4. Clear the Outbox

Move the stuck email to the Drafts folder and try resending it:

    • Go to the Outbox.
    • Right-click the stuck email and select Move > Drafts.
    • Open the email from the Drafts folder and try sending it again.

    5. Restart Outlook

Sometimes, simply restarting Outlook can resolve the issue:

    • Close Outlook.
    • Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and ensure no Outlook processes are running. If they are, end them.
    • Restart Outlook.

    6. Update Outlook

Ensure that you are using the latest version of Outlook:

    • Go to File > Office Account > Update Options > Update Now.

    7. Check for Add-Ins

Certain add-ins can interfere with the sending of emails. Try disabling add-ins:

    • Go to File > Options > Add-ins.
    • At the bottom, select COM Add-ins and click Go.
    • Uncheck all add-ins and click OK.
    • Restart Outlook and try sending the email again.

    8. Repair Outlook Data File

Your Outlook data file might be corrupted. You can use the built-in repair tool:

    • Close Outlook.
    • Open the Control Panel and go to Mail > Data Files.
    • Select your data file and click Open File Location.
    • Note the file location, then close the dialogs.
    • Run SCANPST.EXE (Inbox Repair Tool) from the Office installation directory.
    • Follow the prompts to repair your data file.

    9. Create a New Outlook Profile

Sometimes, creating a new profile can resolve issues:

    • Go to Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles.
    • Click Add to create a new profile and follow the setup prompts.
    • Set the new profile as the default and open Outlook with this profile.

    10. Check Antivirus/Firewall Settings

Sometimes, antivirus or firewall software can block outgoing emails. Ensure that your security software is not interfering with Outlook.

    11. Reinstall Outlook

As a last resort, consider reinstalling Outlook:

    • Uninstall Outlook from the Control Panel.
    • Restart your computer.
    • Reinstall Outlook from the Microsoft Office installation media or download.

    Additional Tips:

    • Check the server status of your email provider. Sometimes, server issues can cause emails to get stuck.
    • Ensure your mailbox is not full.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and fix the issue with emails getting stuck in the Outbox in Outlook. If the problem persists, you need to give more information about the issue, informations like, Outlook version, operating system, in what context did the problem arise, etc..
