Customize Outlook ribbon

I want to remove the "Send to OneNote" and "Reply with Scheduling Poll - Find Time" buttons in Outlook's ribbon. I uncheck the COM Add-ins boxes of OneNote. On clicking OK, it removes the OneNote from the Outlook ribbon. However, when I restart Outlook the next day, the OneNote button returns in the Outlook ribbon. You can see this in the following screen view. The Find Time button also comes back every time. How to permanently remove these buttons?

Removing or customizing buttons in the Outlook ribbon can sometimes be challenging, especially if they keep reappearing after customization. Here are some steps you can follow to try to permanently remove the "Send to OneNote" and "Reply with Scheduling Poll - Find Time" buttons in Outlook 2016:

Method 1: Disable COM Add-ins (For "Send to OneNote")

    1. Open Outlook.
    2. Click on "File" in the top left corner.
    3. Click "Options."
    4. In the Outlook Options window, click "Add-Ins" on the left sidebar.
    5. At the bottom, next to "Manage," make sure "COM Add-ins" is selected, and then click "Go..."
    6. In the COM Add-Ins dialog, uncheck the "Microsoft OneNote" add-in.
    7. Click "OK" to close the COM Add-Ins dialog.
    1. Click "OK" again to close the Outlook Options window.
    2. Restart Outlook.

Check if the "Send to OneNote" button is removed from the ribbon after following these steps. If it reappears, proceed with the next method.

    Method 2: Customize the Ribbon

    1. Open Outlook.
    2. Right-click on the ribbon (the area with the buttons) and select "Customize the Ribbon."
    3. In the "Outlook Options" window, you will see a list of tabs on the right side, with corresponding commands under each tab.
    4. Under the "Home (Mail)" tab (or the tab where you see the buttons you want to remove), select the button you want to remove.
    5. Click the "Remove" button below the list.
    6. Repeat this process for each button you want to remove.
    7. Click "OK" to save your changes.
    1. Restart Outlook.

Check if the buttons have been permanently removed. If they still reappear, it is possible that there might be an issue with your Outlook profile or settings. In that case, you may consider rebuilding your Outlook profile, but be sure to back up your data and settings before doing so.

    Method 3: Rebuild Outlook Profile

Rebuilding your Outlook profile can sometimes resolve persistent issues with ribbon customizations. Here is how to do it:

    1. Close Outlook.
    2. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog.
    3. Type control mlcfg32.cpl and press Enter. This will open the Mail Setup dialog.
    4. Click the "Show Profiles" button.
    5. Select your Outlook profile and click the "Remove" button to delete it.
    6. Click "Add" to create a new profile, and follow the prompts to set up your email accounts.
    7. Open Outlook with the new profile.
    8. Customize the ribbon again if needed.
    1. Restart Outlook.

This should give you a fresh start with a new profile. Remember to back up any important data and settings before removing your old profile. The text and the steps was created with the help of AI.
