Custom email & icloud issues
Hello,
I've set up my custom domain email to my Icloud email & storage account. I then connected it to outlook.
When emails are sent to my custom domain email it comes to my icloud storage/email.
The issue is when I Send emails, or reply to emails it replies as my @icloud.com email.
Any idea what I've got to do to rectify this? to reply as my custom domain email from my icloud account?
Thank you.

It sounds like you have set up your custom domain email within iCloud and Outlook, but you're experiencing an issue where your replies are being sent from your @icloud.com address instead of your custom domain address. This issue can often be resolved by adjusting your email settings. Here's how you can rectify this:
- iCloud Settings:
- Log in to iCloud: Go to iCloud's website and log in to your account.
- Go to Mail: Click on the "Mail" icon to access your iCloud Mail settings.
- Aliases: Check your email aliases. Make sure your custom domain email is listed there and set as your primary alias if you want to send emails from it.
- Default Email Address: Set your custom domain email as the default email address if it's not already.
- Save Changes: Save any changes you make in your iCloud Mail settings.
- Outlook Settings:
- Open Outlook: Launch Outlook on your computer.
- Account Settings: Access your account settings in Outlook. The exact steps may vary depending on your version of Outlook, but generally, you can find this in the File menu or by clicking on your account name/email address in the top right corner.
- Email Accounts: Look for your email account settings, and ensure that your custom domain email is correctly set as the email address associated with your Outlook account.
- Reply Settings: Check the reply settings in Outlook. You should be able to set your default reply address to your custom domain email address.
- Save Changes: Save any changes you make to your email settings in Outlook.
- Test Your Setup:
- Send a test email from your custom domain email address to another email address.
- Reply to the test email from the same account. It should now reply using your custom domain email address.
By following these steps, you should be able to configure your iCloud and Outlook settings to send emails from your custom domain email address rather than your @icloud.com address. If you continue to experience issues, it may be helpful to consult the help resources or support for the specific versions of iCloud and Outlook you are using, as the exact steps can vary based on software versions.

This does not solve the problem, unfortunately. What you described might work if you want to change the default iCloud alias for your account. But it does not help when you want Outlook to use email addresses you configured with your custom domain in iCloud. Note, you cannot choose any email address from any of your custom domains as your default iCloud address.
Also, even if this method would work, it would only be a rather lousy workaround, as Outlook would still be using only one of the email addresses or domains I have configured in my iCloud account. The strange thing is, I even can type my custom domain address in the From field in Outlook (classic for Windows) and it sends the email without complaining. However, the recipient will receive it from my main iCloud account, not from my custom domain.
BTW, I'd have already switched my custom domain emails from iCloud to Microsoft - if Microsoft hadn't decided to discontinue custom domains from personal 365 accounts. Now it feels as if they intend to sabotage existing workarounds through Apple. Not funny!

Thank you for the additional details. It sounds like you're dealing with a more complex scenario involving custom domain email addresses within iCloud and Outlook. Here’s a more tailored approach to resolve the issue:
The Core of the Issue:
Your custom domain is set up in iCloud, but Outlook is defaulting to sending emails via your primary @icloud.com address instead of your custom domain address. Unfortunately, iCloud's custom domain setup doesn't inherently support sending from multiple addresses as seamlessly as you might expect, especially in third-party apps like Outlook.
Solution Overview:
You need to configure Outlook to explicitly send from your custom domain address rather than relying on iCloud’s alias or address management.
Steps to Resolve:
1. Set Up Your Custom Domain as a Separate Account in Outlook:
- Add Your Custom Domain as a New Account:
- Incoming Mail Server:
- IMAP: imap.mail.me.com
- Port: 993
- SSL: Yes
- Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):
- SMTP: smtp.mail.me.com
- Port: 587
- SSL/TLS: Yes
- Go to File > Add Account in Outlook.
- Enter your custom domain email address (e.g., email address removed for privacy reasons) as the email address.
- Choose IMAP (or POP if preferred) and use the following server settings:
- Authenticate using your iCloud username (which includes your custom domain) and an app-specific password (not your Apple ID password). You can generate this from your Apple ID account page under the Security section.
- Complete the setup process.
- Result:
- This treats your custom domain email as a distinct account in Outlook, ensuring that outgoing emails are sent from that address.
2. Modify the From Address in Outlook:
- Use the "From" Field in Emails:
- When composing an email, make sure to manually select your custom domain from the “From” dropdown. This ensures the email goes out with the correct sender information.
- Set the Default Reply Address:
- In Outlook, go to File > Options > Mail.
- Under "Send Messages," make sure the "Always use the default account when composing new messages" option is checked. Then, set the default account to the custom domain you just set up.
3. Check the iCloud Web Interface (Optional):
- If desired, you can also configure the iCloud web interface to use your custom domain as the default sending address, though this will have limited impact in Outlook itself.
Additional Considerations:
- Multiple Custom Domains: If you have multiple custom domains, repeat the above steps for each one, adding each as a separate account in Outlook.
- Switching Services: If this setup feels cumbersome, you may want to consider using a different email service that offers better support for custom domains in third-party applications like Outlook (e.g., Google Workspace or a dedicated email hosting provider).
This setup should allow you to send emails from your custom domain in Outlook, ensuring that recipients see the correct email address, not your primary @icloud.com address.
