Changing of the sender account in a new email via the dropdownbox results in opening a blank form

In the new Outlook for Windows, changing the sender account in a newly created email form via the dropdown box causes an additional empty email form to be opened in which the changed sender address is inserted.

This behavior also applies if an email is replied to and the sender address of the reply is to be changed.

This behavior of the software is not as expected because copying and pasting the text and subject of the prepared e-mail into the e-mail form with the desired sender address is an additional effort.

Thank you very much.

Same here. I swear, every time I try to use "new" Outlook, I encounter small issues like this that make the product overwhelmingly unsuitable for use. I cannot believe MS is going to start rolling this out unsolicited in Jan 2025.

Seeing this same behavior. This is incredibly disruptive. Are there any leads on how to resolve?
