Cannot sign in re email in the last few fays
- Couldnt sign in for last few days. Cannot send or receive emails. Advice given for this problem is for experts only, not for the ordinary user. I do not understand it. When I enter my password, I'm told I cannot sign in.
I am a Microsoft MVP who has worked closely with Microsoft on the transition from basic to modern authentication (security changes) for outlook.com, hotmail.com, live accounts, and older versions of Outlook. Basic authentication is unsupported as of September 16th and will prevent users from logging into the account.

By going through Outlook.com, signing in and clicking on forgot password, I was able to access my hotmail.com email again, so I put up an Outlook icon on my homescreen in order to access my hotmail.com email. This works. (I was previously using an email icon for accessing hotmail.com and gmail.com. I took a risk and deleted everything from the email icon, as it was driving me bananas for the last 2 weeks. No matter if I sorted out the password etc umpteen times, I could still not get any further.) Thank God. Such a relief and much simpler than other advice I have come across.
