Auto fill won't fill my email
Hi Tom_Perham
I am an independent advisor answering Outlook questions.
The auto-complete list provides suggestions and auto-fills names in the To, From, CC, and Bcc lines. The Auto-complete list has a limit of 1,000 names. Do you think you may have reached the limit?
Microsoft's preferred method: Try removing single entries from the suggestion list.
- Open an email message.
- Begin typing a person's name or email address who you don't communicate with often
- Hover over the name and click on the X to remove the name from the AutoComplete/Suggestion list. Note: You are not deleting the name of your contacts.
Important: Do not change the auto-complete limit. MS has made it very clear this option is untested and can cause corruption. Just in case, someone tells you differently.
Let me know if this works for you.

- Tom_PerhamNov 01, 2022Copper ContributorThanks Teresa but my problem is not in removing a contact from the autocomplete list but in adding my own email to it. It used to be if I started typing a name with a "t" that my email "tomper..." would be in the list. Now even though I am in the contacts list and a fav it never comes up at all.

Hi Tom_Perham,
Your email address is also saved in the auto-complete list. Do you think you may have 1,000 contacts or items in the auto-complete list?
Before yesterday's post, I tested the auto-complete with my email address, and it worked adequately as you described. However, I don't have 1,000 items saved in the auto-fill list.
Give it a try and report back.
Thanks.
- Tom_PerhamNov 02, 2022Copper ContributorI have been googling how to find out how many items you have in your autocomplete but can't seem to find a way. I am in the process of deleting from the autocomplete but I suspect even if I get below the 1,000 items limit I will be faced with the same problem.
