Assign a Task - Microsoft Outlook
Good Evening Everyone!
Need your help on a really specific issue regarding task assignment on microsoft outlook.
First, i classify my emails as "conversation" for a better tracking and follow-up, and to make sure that I always have a full picture of the discussion before answering.
For those who know, this "conversation" features works with the email subject.
So if i change anything on the subject, outlook will create a new conversation.
My issue with task assignment is that it adds: "RE: " to the subject of all task assigned, and therefore creates a lot of new conversation in my inbox.
I would like the subject to remain exactly the same as the email / conversation field.
Is that possible and how to do it?
Thanks for your help

Thanks for your reply GeoffLCS. I was afraid I'd get this answer.
Actually I'd enjoyed using the ToDo-App when it was a separate and most useful Option to combine Outlook and Planner tasks with any additional tasks with an easy-to-use mobile version. In fact I'd thought that the "assign tasks" feature had been possible in the app, but can't finde there any more either (could have been my imagination though lol).
Is there anyway we can prompt Microsoft to re-install such useful features? - EdithNBrass Contributor
It was actually fairly easy to assign a task to another person. It's like sending an appointment - once the recipiant has acknowledged the task it is automatically added to their Outlook tasks. When they update the status of the task, this information was available to the sender of the task.
Unfortunately, since the tasks app has been updated to #To Do, it seems I can no plonger assign tasks.
I'd appreciate any support on this. Thanks.- GeoffLCSIron Contributor
Correct! Sadly...I'm pretty frustrated that Outlook Tasks has been replaced by To Do. I'm forcing myself to use it, but it has way less functionality than Outlook Tasks.
In terms of assigning a Task, you can do that in To Do, but you need to create a Shared List first, which is a bit frustrating.- EdithNBrass Contributor
Thanks so much for this response GeoffLCS. I was afraid I'd get this answer...
Actually I loved using the ToDo App, when it was a separate App that combined Outlook tasks, Planner tasks and additional tasks both at the desk or on my mobile.
In fact, I was pretty sure that I'd been able to assign tasks from the ToSo app as well, but may have mixed this up.
Thanks for your tipp to create a shared list - at least there's a "Workaround".
Is there anything we can do to get Microsoft to re-add the "assign task" feature?
